    Chapter ONe Empty Chapter ONe

Post by Payton Croft (R) Mod Fri Oct 23, 2015 9:41 pm

The note on the bulletin board read in larger black print, all capital letters, "MISSING: FIVE YEAR OLD BOY. ANSWERS TO ZED. LAST SEEN AT SOUTH SIDE OF CITY PARK. DIRECT INFORMATION TO CHIEF OF POLICE. SEARCH PARTY MEETING AT YELLOW CAR TONIGHT."
Payton lowered her head and attempted to weave through the other journalist.
"Pay, did you read that? That's the family from out of town that stopped in this morning. They never found that kid."
She nodded to her co-worked and squeezed into her cubicle. She set her coffee down and sighed. A message was flashing in the bottom left of her monitor. A sticky note on the keyboard bobbed in the stream of the fan. She knew what both said. One was her boss telling her to go to Rock Point and interview witnesses. Another was telling her what her article should say before she wrote it. She clicked the message anyway.
"Everything is wonderful here in Rock Point. Hope you'll meet me for dinner at the diner tomorrow. We can catch up."

For the Rock Point Reboot, the story will be starting completely over. Characters will remain the same unless they are playable characters. Tory, Stefan, Nolan, Bailey, Bridie, Luke, Addie (not Lynne), Damien, Ophelia, Rose, Honore, Eoin, Ezra, Officer Carom, the Morgans, and the Quinns can all be seen and mentioned around the neighborhood. You can speak to them as long as you keep them true to their original character. The map will remain the way it is now.

The story doesn't have to follow the previous story. You're free to be creative and write what you would like but a good idea is to pass it with Anon or one of the mods, especially if it will influence a large group. Please DO write the story for yourselves. Previously "bad" characters, like the Quinns, do not have to be the bad guys in this version. There are no limitations to what you can suggest and change. Be active in writing the story, not just a character.

In this forum, you will receive 3 objectives time you complete 1. Each objective will lead you towards being bad, good, or neutral. The objectives may not be obvious in their intent. Objectives will now be OPTIONAL. They are helpful in keeping you busy but not mandatory.

Everyone will be given the same objective starting out unless you were personally given a different objective. The objective is to attend the search party organization at the diner and meet at least one new person.

ALL DINER STAFF: You will be working until the end of the meeting. The diner will close at that time and you're free to leave.
Edward and Atticus: You will be wrapping up guitar lessons at Atticus' motel room and hear the commotion.
Willow: You will be leaving work and hear clients talking about the meeting in the lobby.
Ethan: You will be organizing the search party and in charge of directing the meeting.
Jasmine: You will be locking the library and over hear a group of students discussing the meeting.

This should be a good starting place for everyone. You're free to post when you're ready. Characters that join after this post will be given objectives privately.
DON'T HESITATE TO MAKE THINGS UP. Add to the story as much as you like. Be aware if you're hogging the story or not contributing enough but don't hesitate to join in. Have fun!

Edward was waiting in the open doorway to Atticus' room. His legs already felt weak but he tried to keep himself from looking sick. "There's a lot of people walking up the street," he said to his teacher. He looked over at him and leaned against the frame for stability. "People are parking around the corner too."

"Probably the diner again." Grunting, Atticus swung Edward's guitar over his shoulder and adjusted the strap. "No one better bump my bike and knock it over."
He locked the door to the room and started walking with Edward towards his house. "Hey," he started to suggested. "Why don't we stop in, see what's going on, and get something to eat?"

"We don't have a lot of time. It's getting colder outside and if the boy was taken, they could be a day away from here." Ethan rushed into the diner with duffel bags full of emergency equipment. As the leader of the neighborhood watch, he felt an extreme amount of guilt over the missing child. The family was vacationing, to make matters worse. It gave Rock Point a bad name.
He went to the back of the diner and dropped the bags onto the table. "Each person should get an info sheet, flash light, first aid kit, and extra water to start." He held out his hand to take another bag from a volunteer. "One radio for each group. No one leaves on their own."

"So long as we don't get their burgers." He grimaced. "They make me feel even sicker."

"Yeah?" Atticus laughed. "Don't suppose they serve steak, huh?"
He stopped laughing as a sports bike sped down the middle line between two cars and flung around the corner. "Asshole," he mumbled.
The front of the diner was full of people standing around and talking. They made it inside and stood by the door, looking at the scene. "Emergency gear," he noticed.

Ion walked into the diner, glancing over his shoulder to see how many people were outside the diner, then how many people were inside. It was ridiculous, but at least most of these people would be leaving shortly and wouldn't make his first day any harder than it had to be. He walked through the crowd, avoiding other people as best as he could before making his way to the front and getting a worker's attention. "Excuse me," He waved to them, "I'm here for training." He hoped that this worked out, God knows he had no intention of becoming a gas station worker or something.

The doors of the elevator slid open, revealing a surprisingly empty lobby. It only consisted of a young worker at front of the desk, and an elderly couple sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. The female worker tried calming them, assuring them over and over that their grandson would soon be found. As Willow tried making her way through the lobby and out the doors, the girl noticed her and waved her over.
"They're looking for their grandson," she began. "Do you know anything?"
Staring out the window at the busy street, Willow shook her head.
Sighing, the girl tried a new approach. "They are hoping to get tons of people to help look for their grandson."
    "Where?"
"At the diner, down the street."
The couple nodded, and wiped the tears from their withered faces. They did nothing more than poke and prod Willow in an attempt to push her to find their grandson. Getting tangled in the idea of a search party some-what intrigued Willow. With very little persuasion, she was sent out to the Yellow Car Diner, with only a very little idea to as what was happening around her.
Her eyes widened at the sight of crowds of people. The number of boisterous individuals was overwhelming, and nearly sent Willow running for her lonely home. Breathing in the odor of the odd mixture of pollution and greasy foods, she swallowed down the anxiety. She stood on the tip of her toes, and spotted a man in the middle of a group towards the back of the diner. She pushed her way through, and made it closer to the him. He had to be an important part of the meeting. It was difficult for her to hear each word, but the best she could do now was try her hardest to listen intently.

Standing behind the counter, Nika watched the people pouring into the dining area and gathering around the back table. Bored, she tried flipping through the magazine she'd brought along only to be distracted by the increasing chatter. Rolling her eyes, she tucked the magazine into her apron pocket and leaned over the counter between the kitchen. "Doesn't look like it's going to be slow tonight."
She turned back the the dining floor as someone called out to the staff. "Oh, the new guy," she murmured to herself.
"Good night to start, Ion, right?" Nika said to the man while unhooking an apron from the wall and handing it to him. "My name is Nika. I'll introduce you to the cooks later. For now, get your apron on while I seat some people. There's a notepad and pen in the pocket. Take notes."
Without stopping, she went to the man and teenager standing by the door. "If you're here for the search party, get your stuff over there. If you're here to eat, sit on this side." She pointed to a table and grabbed a stack of menus. "I'll leave these here and be back in a moment."

While handing out flashlights, Ethan turned to the young woman that standing nearby and paused. "Are you here alone?" he asked with a puzzled expression. "If you're hear to help, you'll have to be partnered with an adult."

Ion barely had a chance to speak before he had an apron forced into his hands. He blinked and tied it on, moving to follow Nika. This was going to be a long night. "Don't I need to sign in or something?" He asked, fumbling to get the notepad and pen out.
